The issue

Foodbank research shows 1 in 5 children in Australia experience food insecurity.

Imagine not knowing where your next meal is coming from.

Imagine starting the day on an empty stomach.

This is the reality for many kids across Sydney, and it’s a problem we want to tackle.

Most Important Meal

Who we are

The Most Important Meal project was founded by Living Hope Missions and Capspace with the purpose of providing young lives with the most important meal of the day, breakfast.

The project would not have been possible without Living Hope Missions, which started in 2019. Their goal was to end food insecurity by providing food assistance to the local community. They quickly expanded their food relief program, including into schools. Today, they support 31 school programs, and counting.

After seeing the impact they were making, and the lives they were transforming, Capspace wanted to get involved and support Living Hope Missions to achieve their goals.

Through the generous support of our partner and volunteer network, we are able to make regular deliveries of food and other essential items to schools within Sydney.

We have big goals though. We want to continue expanding our support network to transform even more young lives.

You might have heard the phrase, ‘Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper’.

It’s a reminder of the importance of getting your day off to a good start with a proper breakfast, and this is even more important for growing minds and bodies.

Breakfast is the fuel young minds need to improve focus and learning, feel energised for the day ahead, and provide the nutritional needs to grow and develop.
